And the answer is…
We have wanted to address this subject for some time!
Customers approach us from time to time and ask the question…”How can a store advertise 10 times per hour on 3-5 channels and offer buy one suit and get 3 more free or 10 ties, 3 pairs of shoes , a red wagon and a hat?”
We have to answer… “We don’t know!”
But we can tell you it is an insult to the intelligence of the public. We know what a GOOD suit, a not so good and an expensive suit (Handmade Suit) should cost the retailer within a range. One cannot give away all the extras unless the suit that is being sold for $595 only costs the retailer between $24 – $32. Ouch!
So YOU figure it out. How can that be a value?
More on our Baumans Club Suit coming soon!
Holidays are getting closer
We are getting ready for the holidays and our inventory is full…come in and get a head start!

Don’t Forget Mother’s Day
Mother’s Day is May 8th, and the place to find a gift as unique as your mother is at Baumans.
Surprised? Of course Baumans is the best men’s clothier around – but we also carry fine gift items for the ladies in your life.
She’d love one of the beautiful silk scarves we offer; the perfect accessory to almost any outfit or occasion.
We have a dazzling array of jewelry that you won’t find on every corner. (And we’re expecting a new array of designs from the marvelous ScottKay in just a few weeks.)
For a gift with historical significance, see our new line of scents, soaps, lotions and candles from Santa Maria Novella. Established in the 14th century by Italian monks, Santa Maria Novella has been providing luxurious fragrances and body care products to European nobility (and American movie stars and heads of state) for centuries.
Their hand lotion is simply the finest available anywhere.
We also offer delightful selections from another master Italian perfumer, Acqua di Parma.
So, honor your mother with a gift this year that says how truly special she is to you – a gift of style from Baumans!
Samuelsohn Never Compromises
Samuelsohn was founded in Canada in 1923 by Lesser Samuelsohn, a clothing designer who believed in fine tailoring. He set out to produce the finest men’s clothing, and he did — without compromise.
Today, all Samuelsohn tailored clothing is still proudly hand-tailored in Montréal, Canada, with the same passion and commitment to excellence Samuelsohn has shown for over 87 years.
On April 29 and 30, Samuelsohn’s representative will be at Baumans with a preview of their summer-weight offerings available for custom clothing. This has traditionally been one of our most popular showings and we invite you to attend!
And we’ll be offering special incentives on Samuelsohn garments for these two days only.
Spring 2011
Samuelsohn’s Spring 2011 Collection contains new versions of their classic silhouette that reflects today’s growing trend towards a trimmer, slimmer look.
Their fabrics are carefully selected from the finest and most creative weavers in Italy and Great Britain, comprising both the new and the timeless. Crisp, lightweight tropicals, Superfine clear finished worsteds, mohair with silk and cashmere blends. New shades of summer blue and tan predominate.
Jacket fabrics are crisp and lightweight, many designed expressly for softly constructed models: casual but sophisticated. Poplin blazers, luxurious wools and silk, textured silk and linen: beautifully tailored sport coats that take you from the office to the weekend.
Add in the timeless
All Samuelsohn garments – custom and off-the-rack – offer you high-quality details you’d expect in garments priced much more, including:
“FULLY BASTED” CANVAS CONSTRUCTION – allowing each garment to maintain its shape, fit and comfort after repeated cleanings (almost a lost art).
HAND-TAILORED DETAILS – such as fine Bemberg linings, buttons made with corozo nut or horn, silk threads and labels and Italian cotton pocketing.
STYLE – Samuelsohn’s team of designers delivers fresh fashions with timeless style, sophistication and the perfect fit.
Come discover honest craftsmanship combined with exceptional value! Come see all that Samuelsohn offers for spring on April 29-30.
Santa Maria Novella Is Here!
Among the well-informed and world-traveled, the fragrances and grooming products of the Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella are legendary.
After all, Santa Maria Novella is probably the oldest pharmacy in the world, catering to Europe’s nobility since 1221. Today, the incredibly ornate original shop is a national museum in Italy. But you’ll now find it as close as Baumans.
The secret recipes for Santa Maria Novella colognes, perfumes and body products date back to the 13th century, when they were created by Dominican friars in Florence using herbs from their expansive monastery gardens.
Over the ensuing centuries, the pure and unique scents, soaps and body products have become essential for generations of Medicis, movie stars, prime ministers and Popes.
Come experience the legendary Santa Maria Novella scents, shaving and grooming aids – and meet the company’s national representative – at Baumans Pavilion Store on Thursday afternoon, April 14, and on Friday, April 15.
You’ll learn how Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella both perpetuates and renews the ancient traditions of herbal care.
Using only natural raw materials of the highest quality and continuing to follow the ancient procedures originated by the Founding Fathers, Officina Profumo Farmaceutica di Santa Maria Novella focuses exclusively on the herbalists art, basing all its preparations on traditional herbs and oils of natural origin. The vast majority of the medicinal herbs used in its products are still grown locally on the hills around Florence.
We invite you to join us at Baumans on April 14 and 15 to discover quality that has been prized for over 400 years.
Bellissima!
Modern men. Real style.
Lapo Elkann is the grandson of Fiat’s Gianni Agnelli. Lapo’s look is always a mash-up of beautiful, sartorial detail and sportswear. The fit is always correct and the combinations are thought provoking and fresh. There are no rules for him. He follows his instinct and passion. Sometimes the result is a bit of a mess, other times, genius. Having Bianca Brandolini to sit next to doesn’t hurt a bit. Have a look at this video from Lapo’s line, Italia Independent. I am in love with the medium of short video as a promotional tool at the moment and this one is fantastic. It is shot in Lapo’s new house in Milan, made to look like a hotel.
Matteo Marzotto, leader of the Marzotto fashion group. Always classic, reserved and elegant.
The amazing James Andrew. Blogger without equal. If you are ever lucky enough to meet James, do yourself a favor and bring a notepad and a pen. This man is full of more fresh ideas about style than anyone I know. James is fearless and confident in his choices. Every thing he wears is curated to the last detail. Nothing goes unnoticed with James. Check out James’ wonderful blog www.whatisjameswearing.com and see.
Enrico Libani of Cesare Attolini from Napoli. Attolini is the worlds finest suit and Enrico is the best possible representative of that. Elegant and well-spoken, Enrico’s choices are classic and simple.
Dario Pandolfi, also of Cesare Attolini, showing of the perfect sleeve length for a jacket.
Italian paparazzo, Fabrizio Corona mixes street style with high sartorial details. Dressing in the classic Italian style, Fabrizio shows that even if you are pleading your case in court there is no reason not to look your best.
Lamborghini’s Stephan Winkelmann displaying what may be the perfect collar and perfect car.
Be fearless, dress for yourself.

Style or Stylist?
There is always a lot of credit given to certain celebrities for having style or being this or that magazine’s “Best Dressed” list. The fact of the matter is that when it comes to todays celebrities, they don’t have great personal style at all, just a great stylist.
As usual, here is a look back……..at some people with REAL style, permanent style. Style so ingrained into their personalities that it becomes an effortless and every-moment expression of who they are.
There is no faking it…………
Miles Davis had great syle. This look is every bit as relevant today as it was back then.

Steve McQueen, a personal favorite. From the obsession with cars and racing to the close fit of his clothes, his personal style was functional and timely. Best of all, he wasn’t pretending. This is who he truly was.
Alain Delon and Jean Paul Belmondo on the set in 1969.
Michael Caine’s trademarked thick frames.

The master, at any age. The living embodiment of ‘La Dolce Vita’. Marcello Mastroiani.

Gianni Agnelli. There are no words. This is the standard and there will never be another.
Up next, a look at modern men with real style………………….
Brian
